COORDINATOR:  MR. DANIEL TAYLOR, ROOM 205

The Story of our CS program began as an attempt to bring computing to our school in the Fall of 2013.  Since then it has evolved into an ETC (Engineering, Technology and Computing) club, a Finch/Comp Science website, highly successful CS Ed Week activities (2013, 2014, 2015), and a new elective (Game Creation with Robots) with the help of RiverSound Solutions.  In addition, we have accomplished quite a bit in the community, visiting other Montclair schools (Bradford and Watchung elementary in 2014 and 2015) and participating with the Montclair March Mathness events of 2014.  We have also participated in community events outside of Montclair.  One such event was Scratch Day NYC  2013, 2014, and 2015, and Greenwich, Conn. in  January 2015.  At these events, a handful of our aspiring students taught Finches to the public, including students, parents and other educators! Additionally, on October 18th, 2014, a few of our students presented Finches at The Edscape Conference at New Milford High School, New Jersey.  This event was strictly a teacher workshop, where our students, once again, taught local educators about the usefulness of the Finches in the classroom.  Finally, in February of 2014, a cohort of student "Finch Experts" attended and presented at the North Jersey Computer Science Teachers Association.
